FREE Victoria eyes 1 VICTORIA (CP) — The Education Ministry is looking at @ 12month school year with staggered vacations for students, says Education Minister Tony Brummet, ‘The year-round class system has been suggested as one route to alleviating overcrowding in British Columbia's schools and to better utilization of classrooms now sitting empty for 2% months each summer. A 12-month school year is one of a number of possible changes that will be examined by a committee looking into ways to make education more productive and efficient, Brummet said in an interview Tuesday. As costs increase in the education system, he said, the government is looking at ways to restructure the costs rather than allowing them to continue to increase.
