Funeral service was held at the Castlegar Funeral Chapel on Tuesday and Wednesday with burial at Park Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Soukoreff was born Oct. 7 1905, at Benita, Sask. She maried George S. Soukoreff on February 7, 1922 at Ootischenia. They lived at Brilliant and operated a general store until moving to South Slocan in 1951. In 1981 they moved to Castlegar, Mrs. Soukoreff enjoyed needlecraft and gardening. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Sam and Anne of Ootischenia and John and Rose of Fort St. John, two daughters and sons-in-law, Anita and Fred Tomlin of Castlegar and Betty and Pete Jmaeff of Quesnel, 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband George in 1981. IMNUECA\ 1150 Lakeside Drive, Nelson, B.C. eee IN MEMORY Nesta Ann Mottershead On Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1992, Nesta Ann Mottershead of Castlegar, formerly of Deer Park, passed away at the age of 85 years. Funeral service was held on Friday, Sept. 4, 1992 at 11 a.m. at the Castlegar Funeral Chapel with Lt. Kevin Moore officiating. Interment was at Park Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Mottershead was born January 13, 1907 in England and came to Canada in 1928 and settled in Toronto. She married Harry Mottershead in Toronto on May 2, 1931. In 1947 she and her husband moved to Deer Park where they operated a fruit ranch and the Deer Park Resort until they were bought out by B.C. Hydro. They continued to live on the upper part of their property until 1991 when they moved into Castlegar. Mrs. Mottershead was well known for her baking. She was a member of the Deer Park Women’s Institute, enjoyed gardening and the outdoors. She is survived by her husband Harry “Dick” of Castlegar, sister, Frances Kenworthy of Castlegar and niece, Nesta Hale of Castlegar and many nieces and nephews in England. She was predeceased by one brother, Ralph Meredith and sister, Florence Little. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Castlegar Funeral Chapel. Violet Jane Reid Shaw On Thursday, September 3, 1992, Violet Jane Reid Shaw of Castlegar passed away. Mrs. Shaw was born at Pense, Sask., and moved with her parents at an early age to Washington state. After living at various places in Washington, the family moved to Lacombe, Alta. She married John Shaw there in 1932 and he passed away in 1962. She came to Castlegar in 1980. Mrs. Shaw enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by one son, John of Castlegar, two daughters, Ida Green of Princeton and Shirley Vigtue of Castlegar, 10 grandchildren, seven great grandchil- dren, one sister, Florence McDonald of Calgary and sister in law Evelyn Caithness of Vancouver. There will be no funeral at the request of Mrs. Shaw and cremation has taken place. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of the Castlegar Funeral Chapel. Mike Edward Kinakin On Sunday, September 6, 1992, Mike Edward Kinakin of Thrums, passed away at the age of 82 years. Funeral service will be held at the Castlegar Funeral Chapel beginning tonight (Wednesday) September 9, 1992 at 7 p.m. and will continue» Thursday, September 10, 1992 at 10 a.m. with burial at noon at the Glade Cemetery. Mr. Kinakin was born at Arran, Sask., and came to Glade with his parents in 1912. He grew up in Glade and married Annie Sampsonoff there in 1932. They continued to live at Glade until moving to Thrums in 1961. In 1986 he moved to Mount St. Francis Hospital where he lived until his passing. During his early years, he worked as a teamster skidding logs with horses. For the majority of his adult life, he worked a carpenter on the construction of the many dams in the area. He enjoyed farming and fishing. Mr. Kinakin is survived by one son, George of Thrums and one daughter and son-in-law, Naida and-Ely Koorbatoff of Slocan Park, four grandchildren, one great granddaughter, one brother Peter Kinakin ‘of Castlegar. He was predeceased by his wife, one brother, one sister and a daughter in law. No flowers by request. Funeral arrangements are under the di- rection of the Castlegar Funeral Chapel. Amelia Kristina Hamberg Amelia Kristina Hamberg of Castlegar (formerly of Salmo) passed away on Saturday, September 5, 1992 at the age of 94 years. Memorial service was held at the Salmo Community Church on Tuesday September 8, 1992 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Allen Lewis of- ficiating. Cremation has taken place. Mrs. Hamberg was born February 21, 1898 in Sweden. She grew up and married Viktor Hamberg there on June 24, 1920. The family came to Canada in 1923 and settled in the Kootenays. Mrs. Hamberg lived in many communi- ties in the East and West Kootenay as her husband worked in logging and mining. In 1947 they settled in Salmo and she came to Trail in 1982 as a resident of Kiro Manor and later the extended care wing of the Trail Regional Hospital. During her life, her favorite hobbies in- cluded baking and gardening. She is survived by two sons, Arvid (Edith) Hamberg of Vernon and Allan (Norma) Hamberg of Fullerton, Cali., three daughters, Kris (Dave) John of Castlegar, Ester Ziuchkovski of Maple Ridge, and Anna Donaldson of Sonora, Calif., 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and three great great granddaughters. She was predeceased by her husband Viktor, youngest son Helmer, and two grandsons Mark and John John.
