This year, the Castlegar and District Community Complex will be the scene of several options for the annual Dance for Heart fund- raiser. « “We have participants in so many different areas that we Have a number of events planned for the week,” explained Recreation Co- grdinator Susan Campbell. ‘ The week's program begins on ie 2, ari Wednesday, May 8, with two adult Aquafit for Heart events — a moming class from 9 a.m, to 10:30 a.m,, and an evening session from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. There is also a Youth Weight Training for Heart scheduled for 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday + evening. “This is the first year for Youth Weight Training for Heart,” noted Campbell, adding that youngsters aged 12 to 16 may participate. Old Time Fiddlers leave New Denver crowd toe-tapping On Saturday, April 6, The Old Time Fiddlers Kootenay #9 enter- tained for the first time at the New Denver Hospital, wearing their red vests made it quite colorful. Their music caused a lot of toe tapping, hand clapping and some dancing amongst visitors and resi- dents. A senior resident of New Den- ver had his dream come true when he was asked to bring his guitar and join The Old Time Fiddlers. With a big smile, George Skarr kept time to the jigs, reels, polkas, two steps and waltzes that were played. The time to play “Now is the Hour’ and “Till We Meet Again” came too soon, but the fiddlers promised they would be-back in the near future. Old Time Fiddlers’ Association hosted their annual Fid- dle Contest and Dance. “We have 50 contestants, that's 50 per cent better than last year," noted 4 organizer Debra Tompkins.
