My inspiration for today's article began with a slogan I saw at the entrance of Mike's mobile homes, here in Castlegar. It read “Your road to the good life starts here!” Sounds like good advertising to me! Of course, Mike is referring to ob- taining the kind of equipment that will enable you to go places, and see things! As I thought about this slogan, I was reminded of something the apostle Paul said to the Christian people at Philippi. He said: “You are to hold out the word of life to those around you! To suceed in a life of such dimensions, Paul says the place to start is with Christ. Christ is the Greatest If we are endeavoring to help people find life that is abundant and eternal, we need to be sure we point them to the right source. Christ is that source. He is equal with God and is himself God. (See St. John 1:1.3; Colossians 1:15-17; and Hebrews 1:1-3) There is no higher source of wis. dom or power to be found anywhere. So we can be assured that we are pointing people to the true source of abundant and eternal life. Christ is our Example Paul reminds his audience that Christ did not grasp at his supre. macy, but He gave us a matchless example of true humility and true servanthood. Jesus very plainly told His followers in Matthew 23:11-12, “The greatest among you will be your servant. For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and who ever humbles himself will be exal ted.” Just think! If all Christians lived by this credo, how much more D-sar-D pininc tounce OPEN 4 P.M. If all mankind would live by this credo, how much more abundant would be the physical and spiritual life of every human being. Since Christ is the supreme author of life, and is aware of the responses in life of each person, it stands to reason He alone is in the position to judge each individual according to the light and opportunity each one has had. So Paul declares every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the Glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:10-11). If we honestly look at what Christ has to offer us, would we not all be wise to follow the example of those wise men of old, as they bowed their knees and their hearts before the one they recognized as the Lord of life in its fullest dimensions? This Christmas season would be a good time to acknowledge openly that . . . the way to the good life begins with Christ! SCHOOL VIEW By Gordon A.
