HERE AND THERE WITH ARLEE Experience is a good teacher. I’ve been So good this week ‘there isn’t even enough material to make an interesting column. “Life gets tedious, doesn’t it?” Went to the P.T.A. meeting Jast Monday. Before entering I inquired of Muriel Grunerud as to whether I was in the right place — at the right time. Turn- ed out I was not only correct this time but even asked for the right person. She heads the “Welcoming Committee’ see how I’ve improved? Every time I go into that high school I wish I were back in school. I re- member the stone steps in our school in Minneapolis had quite deep depressions where the thou- sands of feet had gone before mine. I remember getting lost once when I first started and how I hated to have to go back to my “home room” and ask where to go, and I remember the huge auditorium and being in the “class play” — oh gee, I'd like to go to high school again. Tuesday the Ranch was well represented at the Castle Theatre. We all wanted to see of Mario Lanza was worth raving about — he was! The Waites and the Anderson’s went enmasse — ten of us. I guess Les Campbell thought it was some kind of in- vasion. The small fry were good tho, and we all enjoyed the evening. Little Daphne MacLean-Angus, youngest pianist at her mother’s recital held recently, was incor- rectly reported to be four years old. She won’t be four until April the 8th of this year.’ Miss Sharon Jones celebrated her seventh birthday on Satur- day by entertaining nine little friends. MUIRHEAD, Clerk. © Ww yy we had asked Fred and Susan Wapple and _ their brother Pat Wapple and their “boarder” Miss Betty Ball to come up and go tobogganing. It was raining by then so we play- ed “canasta” instead. Has that bug bitten you? It took a wee nip about two years ago and we played a little but never seemed to have time to continue. Then after that start on Wednesday we did it again Saturday — this time with the Waites and the Bradfords. Really is kind of fun. Thursday — _ Shall I tell it again? I went to cover” the So- cial Credit meeting — it was well attended and quite interest- ing. Knowing practically noth- ing about politics, I am a poor one to say. what I think but I do know there is no time likg the present to learn. The week-end slipped by so fast and here I am writing you on Monday morning while the wash water is heating again. I would like to tell you about Molly before I quit. We used to see quite a bit of her during the summer, but after it got cold “Bob” didn’t like taking her out any more than she liked go- ing out with him, so it is only special occasions we get to see her. “Bob”, you see, is a horse belonging to Molly Carlson. You've seen the two of them to- gether often. We even got a Christmas card signed ‘Molly and Bob” but I didn’t ask which one signed it. To get on with my story, we had a visit on Sun- day and Molly told us about her experiences of the day before. It seems she had to deliver a cat to the upper regions of Kin- naird. So she tied it in a sack and hung it on the saddle and she and Bob proceeded to de- liver said cat. All very normal procedure,, of course, but what makes it so amusing was seeing the startled looks on the faces of the people walking on the opposite side of the street going through Kinnaird. They could hear deep yowls and meeows and all they could see was a horse and a girl. “All in a day’s ride” — says Molly and if it weren’t for me the msytery would still be unsolved. 4 One more thing and then I reall will stop — it seems I owe an apology to young Leslie Waldie. I wrote all about the birthday party — just wish- ing I could have been there too and wondering how I could get myself invited to the next one and didn’t know until after the paper came out that “she” is a “he.” Not only that — he is one of four boys and no sisters and it is almost like adding in- sult-to injury now wouldn't you say? Just shows I'll have to get “here and there” more and find out a few of these things in ‘advance. Sorry Leslie — it won't happen again. Robson Rec. Elects Officers The new executive board for the Robson Racreational Society were chosen at the annual meet- COFFEE“: M.B., Blue Labi TE ee ue Label ‘Bigger & Better BUYS ing held recently. Mrs. R. Berry, J. Leamy, B. Lamb, F. Humph- ries and N. Hay were duly elect- ed. Reports for the year were also given at this meeting, most im- portant being the remodelling of the second floor of the Robson hall, providing two apartments which had been rented immedi- ately. Guest speakers for the evening were E. S. Martin and J. Dalziel of Castlegar, speaking on the work of the Kinnaird - Robson - Castlegar Welfare Society. W. Waldie and E. S. Martin were appointed Robson representatives on the executive of the welfare group. DATES 5, sis.
