Ag CASTLEGAR NEWS, Friday, July 7, 1978 A Total Team Effort Says Coach ~ Castlegar Aquanauts Dominate Colville Meet : By DAN OBEDKOFF -;. The Castlegar Aquanauts travelled to Colville last week- end to participate in their first swim meet of the year, and they started the season on a winning note by completely dominating the meet, *. The kids went prepared to swim, and swim they did. When the smoke cleared, the Aqua- nauts had accumulated a total of7859 points, Far behind in segond place was Trail, with 381. points; Nelson was third with 335 points; and the host team Colville, followed with 241 paints. vs; The victory was a total team effort, with everyone from the eight-and-under group to the 17-and-over group pitch- ing in. I was very impressed with the way the new swim- mers handled themselves, as KISBL: they had no problems at all with the competition. Even more impressive was the good behavior displayed by all members of the team. The victory was high- lighted by several outstanding individual performances, The individual efforts are reftected in the large number of Aqua- nauts who collected aggre- gates, The aggregate winners were: Girls 8-and-under: first Pauline Orr 28 pts. second Lisa Uchida 20 pts, Boys 8-and-under: second Kevin Jardine 20 pts, third Russell Sapriken 17 pts, Girls 9 and 10: first DoreenInnes 28 pts, second Erika Berger _ 18 pts. Boys 9 and 10: third Ken Kinakin 11 pts. * Trail in the Lead . Kootenay International Senior Baseball League statis- ties as of July 3: Colville 6 5 545 N.D--Silverton 6 7 .462 . Hurricane lanterns were again. used, which Michelson said the pilot stated were ade- quate for the conditions pre- vailing—a clear evening. The flight was authorized by the Trai] Regional Hospital. No-names were released, but it is understood the patient was an adult male. Vandalism Mars Long Weekend Several reports of van- dalism have been received by local RCMP following the holi- day -weekend. Police have received a report that the city works vehicles parked in the city yard were vandalized with approxi- mately seven headlights stolen and two headlights smashed. The Government Liquor Store had its front door window broken by a rock, causing an estimated $60 damage. A break and entry took place at Kootenay Columbia Co-op in which entry was gained by breaking the glass in the door and unlocking it. It is estimated that ap- proximately $25 in cash and goods has been stolen. East Kootenay—5, Trail— 7 July 2 (at Grand Forks): N.D.-Silverton—7, G. Forks—4 N.D.-Silverton—3, G.
