FINE TUNING The holidays are for the Birds, on ‘CODCO’ BY BOB REMINGTON s you might imagine, Christmas with “CODCO” is not the warm and fuzzy experience that you get on most TV holiday specials. In the hands of the delight- fully demented CBC comedy troupe, the Christmas spirit is more like that of Scrooge - be- fore he has been visited by the three ghosts. Rather than pre- senting its usual series of com- Alan Thicke edy sketches, “CODCO” on Wednesday night, Dec. 23, pre- sents “The Bird Family Christ- mas,” an entire show devoted to the dysfunctional Bird fam- ily. They’re sort of a Newfie version of “The Simpsons,” only not as charming. Appearing before “hanging judge” Samuel Fair- ly (played by Al Waxman), she is tried by prosecuting attor- ney Jailin’ Jones (Heath Lam- berts). Playing the big bad wolf is Alan Thicke, with An- drea Martin as Little Red Rid- ing Hood’s crotchety and hypo- chondriac grandmother. Paul Martini, of the skating team Martini and Underhill, co-stars as The Woodsman. Also appearing are the Three Little Pigs, who in this twist on the old tale are rap singers, led by head pig Justin Louis. e The Peanuts classic “A Charlie Brown Christmas” airs Monday night, Dec. 21, on CBC, which is also running other animated Christmas spe- cials Monday through Friday afternoons this week.
