They start at 9-10 a.m. and cost $2 a class. Come parti- cipate in this high energy workout at the complex. Parents and Tot, Skating Parent and tot skating take place at the complex Mondays from:1-2 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m, - 12 noon. It only costs $1.25 for a parent and all the kids. Job's Daughters busy during recent months Honored Queen Tracy Kaminsky has kept the Dau- ghters of Bethel 60 Interna- tional Order of Job’s Daugh- ters active during her term. Following her installation she accompanied PHQ Shauna Hegan and senior princess Victoria Thompson to the Clay Castle where PHQ Shauna presented a cheque for $50 to the Koot- enay Society for the Han- dicapped. The money was used to brighten up the kit- chen area in the Clay Castle. In June a splash party was held at the home of SP Victoria Thompson. Also in June was clean-up duty at the Shrine Circus. Early in July the girls ran The Grand Guardian and session at SP Victoria 's home. a cession at the slow-pitch tournament. The girls were presented with Castlegar pins and in- troduced to council members. Castlegar Bethel held a popcorn sale and information desk at Castleaird Plaza to. mark Job's Daughters Day. Associ: Grand visited the Bethel in October. A pot-luck supper was held in their honor. Later that even- ing, Kathy Bate and Michelle Boisvert were initiated into ‘the Bethel. * A church parade was held at, the end of October at the Castlegar United Church. ‘{In- November the Daugh- ters held a “rock-a-thon” in the showreom of Maloney Pontiac. They collected pled- ges based on 12 hours of continuous rocking in rocking chairs. They also participated in the Kiwanis Skate-a-Thon followed by lunch and a “rap” December was election time for the new Bethel officers and the initiation of Vanessa Cue, a Rotary ex- change student from the Philippines. A Christmas party was held complete with a visit from Santa. During her term, Honored Queen Tracey Kaminsky made a presentation of $50 to the Multiple Sclerosis So- ciety. Each honored queen makes a donation to a charity of her choice during her term of office. Federal Business Banque fédérale Bank de Canad Former Pass Creek resi- dent Elaine Burt (nee Sook- ochoff) of Penticton, passed away Jan. 3 at the age of 35. Mrs. Burt was born July 19, 1951 at Trail to Mike and Nettie Sookochoff. She grew up in Pass Creek and at- tended schools in Castlegar and graduated from Stanley Humphries secondary school in 1969. She. then took her dental assistant training and work- ed with Dr. Bevans, becom- ing a certified dental assis- tant. She married Const. David Lyle Burt on July 26, 1974 and lived with her hus- band at several different postings, including New Den- BETTER ver, McKenzie and Penticton. She was a member of the Doukhobor Youth Choir, ac- tive in curling, bowling, baseball and an all-around athlete. Mrs. Burt is survived by her. husband of Penticton; two sons Scott and Wade of Penticton; sister Cheryl Sookochoff of Pass Creek; two brothers, John of Grand Forks and Mike of Prince George; her parents Pass Creek and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held at the Brilliant Cultural Centre beginning at 7 p.m. tonight and continue on Thursday at 10 a.m. with burial at 1 p.m. at the Pass Creek Cemetery. Judging from the dishes of food, many cooks displayed their talents, and a “special” was rationed so all could taste the peanut soup Father Herman had prepared. He later told the story of native women gathering the pea- nuts, grinding them between stones and then preparing the tastey soup to be served over cooked rice.
