ALK Fortunes in the KIJHL have definitely turned topsy-turvy this season. The teams usually considered in recent years to be the have-nots have shown quite a reversal, with Grand Forks and Nelson sitting up on top of the Western Division. In Grand Forks, Gerry Quiring has put together an impressive array of talent and is getting some terrific performances from them. They started off with a bang and at this point in time do not look as if they intend to change their ways. It's really great to see this happen because their fans have suffered with a loser almost since the forming of the Bruins and deserve a bit of a break. This looks like the year the Bruins may just be eapable of bringing home the bacon. The Nelson Junior Maple Leafs are also putting together a pretty good act," winning with regularity over teams from Trail, Castlegar and Rossland. When you consider that Nelson sent three outstanding youngsters to the Penticton Knights who could quite eonceivably have been playing for the Maple Leafs this season, you can figure that Nelson's minor hockey movement is really coming through for them. I get regular information from the Knights' camp through the good offices of former Rosslander, "Chow" Sdao, now living in Penticton and commuting back and forth to his home town with amazing regularity. "Chow" is quite high on these three kids, 16-year-olds Bruno Campese and Marc Centrone and 17-year-old Morey Gare, who it appears are welcome additions to the BCJHL team.
