church in general observe the
spiritual aspect of Easter
rather than the worldly as-

We see that he was also
accursed of God and God had
to then turn his back on his

Oldtime Fiddlers was held
April 5 at the Senior Citizen's

agreed to attend the fiddle
contest and to present some
opening remarks.

contest. Glover has been
affiliated with musicians in

The Castlegar heritage ad-
visory committee sent thanks
to the fiddlers for their help.

The fiddle group will play
at the Fruitvale Beaver Val-
ley Days May 21. Also, on
May 30 the fiddlers will play
for a Castlegar senior's
dance.

A fiddle jamboree is plan-
ned for Oct. 3 in the Cominco
Gyn, if all arrangements can
be finalized. The jamboree
will be followed by a dance.

It has been noted that one
of the club members, Harry
Waller of Robson, has been

donating a few hours of his
time every Monday to play
for the youngsters at the
Trail Children’s Develop-
ment Centre. With his fiddle,
guitar and mouth organ, he's
a one-man band that really
pleases the children.

When the meeting ad-
journed, many of the club
members journeyed to Ross-
land for a delicious potluck
supper and then the music-
ians joined the telethon at
the high school in Rossland.

The telethon, in aid of the
children’s development
centre, was a great success,
raising more than $25,000.

ner of a dinner for two to the
Fireside Inn is Deborah Mor-

ris of Robson for her theme
Rainbows and Roses.

Elsewhere, an article by
Barbara Tandory quoted Dr.
Monty Arnott, Central Koot-
enay health officer, saying
there were 36 cancer deaths
in Castlegar over the last 23

ears.

In fact the deaths refer
only to stomach cancer and
not all types of cancer as was
reported. As well, a proof-
reading error converted Dr.
Arnott's first name to Mon-
day.

Mike N. Sherstobitoff, a
former Castlegar resident,
passed away at Penticton
Regional Hospital March 30
after a lengthy illness.

Born Oct. 26, 1924, Mr.
Sherstobitoff lived all his life
in the Castlegar area and
only moved to Okanagan
Falls in June, 1986. He was a
member of the Carpenter's
Union for 33 years.

He is survived by his wife,
Polly, his’ son Larry and
daughter-in-law Dee of Pen-
ticton, his son Paul and
daughter-in-law Penny and
children, Ryan and Kylah of
Vancouver, and son Bob of
Castlegar; two sisters, Mrs.
Jack Voykin (Verna) of Slo-
can Park and Polly of Shore-
acres; brother Nick of Castle-
gar and many relatives and
friends. Cremation and a pri-
vate memorial service will be
held at a later date.
