We all have a love of vintage, antique and classic cars. That’s the common focal point,” Kevin Lamb said. A member of the Vintage Car Club of Canada— Columbia chapter — Lamb said the group’s family focus is important to the membership. Club treasurer Ike Braga agreed. “There’s no point in having all this fun if you have to leave the family behind,” he said. In order to get as many people out as possible, the group meets every second Sunday for a potluck supper. The group gathered at the border to trade memorabilia before heading back to Castlegar for games and a chance to check out some members’ latest car projects. But for those who had enough cars “there was a craft demonstration at the seniors’ hall,” Braga said. The group then came together for a feast of homemade borscht, bread, and deserts. “We ended it with more socializing,” Braga said.“ Until you’ve been on one you don’t know the fun.” Harvey Jack has been having fun ever since he joined 15 years ago. “I enjoy vintage cars and the people connected to them,” Jack SPECIAL EVENTS The local Cancer Society is conducting a Breast Self Examina-tion Clinic Oct. 28. But ownership of a vintage or classic car is not a membership requirement, Braga said. “You don’t have to have a car to be a member. “That’s how I was talked into it,” he recalled. Lamb tells a similar story of how he got involved. Lamb has been a member for three years and has only had a car for the last three months. Braga, a six-year member, still does not have a “driveable” vehicle although he has been working on assembling one. eee Anyone interested in finding out more about the club can call president Gordie Bos at 365-2646. ¢
