Owners Mel and Richard Smeland launched the venture last October, determined to offer the kind of value that would bring diners back for frequent visits. Their menu includes 35 entrees, including all the traditional stand-bys plus an assortment of Mexican offerings and even a vegetarian meal — all for the. same price: $9.95. Add the garlic toast, salad and trimmings which accompany every meal, and you've got yourself one heckuva bargain. The low price makes your eating experience economical, but the obvious care that goes into preparing the food is what makes a visit truly rewarding. Prawns Cajun, for example, live up to their promise of spicey flavor: they're accompanied by fresh vegetables cooked to perfection. The Restaurant of the Week If you have a taste for really hot foods, don't miss the Caesar salad with hot and spicey chicken strips. The Eatery successfully attempts something that others have tried and failed: it's a place where your children will feel comfortable, and yet it also offers an opportunity for an adult evening with sophisticated decor and reliable service. Cedar walls, red swag lamps and a brick fireplace provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant, which is located halfway up the hill from Trail to Warfield, is large enough to accommodate large crowds, but it is divided up into cosier rooms that are suitable for smaller groups. Banquet facilities for gatherings of up to 120 are also available, although they're often booked up well in advance. If you're contemplating an event during the busy pre-Christmas season, you'd be well advised to make your arrangements immediately.
