million: over Tourism B.C.'s
original goal for 1979.

And the target for 1980
is $1.85 billion, a 10-per-cent
increase over this year’s goal,

Phillips said earlier this

The other goals of the
1980/81 marketing plan are:

« To increase average
visitors stay to 4.8 nights;

e To increase average
spending per visit by 10 per
cent to $36 per day; and

« To improve visitor des-
tinction distribution through-
out the province.

The plan also forecasts
an eight-per-cent increase in
tourism revenues from Brit-
ish Columbians travelling in
their own province in 1980,'a
14-per-cent hike in earnings
from other Canadian visitors
to B.C., a six-per-cent gain
from U.S. visitors, and a
16-per-cent increase in tour-
ism dollars from overseas
visitors. ~
