.,... llary During the past weekend I, along with quite a number of other people from the surrounding area, watched what could be termed a miracle happen before our eyes. What used to be a bare useless piece of property was turned into a very conspicuous and convenient building. I would not say it is beautiful, but it is definitely not an eyesore and from what I saw on the inside on an open-house visit, it will be very appropriate for the purpose for what it was built. The members of the Jebovahs Witness, who came from near and far to give a band, have to be commended on the devotion to the job at hand. Because if one stood and watched, as I and quite a number of other people did, you had to marvel the loss of time during the construction was so small. To put it in the proper perspective everything moved along like clockwork. So, let's say congratulations to you all, ladies and gentlemen for a fine effort, marvelously executed. A fine addition to our community. On Sunday morning the retirees curlers from Rossland once again took on the job of policing the upper course and with the kind of weather we've been having it should be a very worthwhile ven-. ture. We shall try to give all our members a chance to help this effort because it is an ideal way to help those who participate in both golf and curling. We are operating out of the clubhouse this fall as the little house that used to be our headquarters is occupied. When people come along to play they naturally go first to the clubhouse before going out on the course so nothing is changed this year. I attended a general meeting of the Rossland Curling Association last week where we were told that they have settled on a choice for the job of icemaker to replace Mike Kraftchick, who held down that job last winter, but who has since moved to Ontario. In other business, a new slate of table officers were named to the committee. Tony Topolinsky will be president, Tim Steinke vice-president, Karen Tyler secretary, Roy Fines remains as ~ treasurer and Jack Malchow will become pastpresident. Quite a number of directors were named as the association seeks more representation from its participating clubs. I will represent the press and be giving you anything in the way of news that comes my way. Besides the attractive new trophy cabinet now installed, a bar cooler and a number of new chairs are an anticipated expense for tile coming season. Prices are not expected to raise appreciably this time around. A formula was suggested by Jim Albo that a percentage be paid to the member clubs on the bams of usage of various club facilities from which income is derived. 'lbe Warriors split on the weekend, winning over Beaver Valley Nitebawks 7-3 on Friday before a pretty fair~ crowd and losing in Cranbrook 74 on Saturday evening. Tonight, they play Spokane Braves at the arena. I beard they gave up a couple of easy goals in -the Cranbrook game, otherwise it could have been a real close one. The team has a number of injuries to contend with and I guess we'll just have to be patient They will mend and the Warriors will poaibly have a good season. Now it's that time again For me to say 'Til next time, then I --,
