But the message applies to a much larger cross-section of our com- munity. It’s a good lesson for all us who want to achieve our goals. Take the case of young Wayne Stolz Jr. He needs to raise $3,000 by early May to participate in an international invitational tennis tournament in Austria (he’s that good!) and attend Wimbledon. Does he hassle the business community begging for hand- outs? No. Do you read about how desperate he is for money and that if you can help out, mail it to him? No. What he needs, he gains by work. The 17-year-old Stolz Jr. is having a tennis-a-thon. He will be playing 25 hours of tennis during the month of April. (On weekends, of course, since he has a full school load.) His tennis partners are volun- teering their time, and some of the businesses and people in the community have heard about it and are sponsoring him Nothing in this life is free A lesson to | be learned For young people-like Stolz Jr. to recognize, be, has to work to earn the money he needs rather than ask for handouts is indeed -an accomplish- COMMUNITY meat. He even has sponsorship packages set up so that if you sponsor him for a certain dol- lar amount you can receive private tennis lessons (after he returns from Austria). What he needs he gains by work. Subway jumped in early with sponsorship and donated T-shirts for him to wear during the tennis-a-thon. And, they gave him a generous dollar amount too. And, except for a listing in the Sidelines column in the Sports section of this newspa- per, shy and quiet Wayne Stolz Jr. hasn't really made his ten- nis-a-thon very public. No major press releases, no telephone calls hounding the reporters at The Casile- gar Sun to come and take pictures and write a story; no posters plastere all over town. Just a nice young man who wants to work to earn the money he needs What a valuable lesson for all of us. What we need, we gain by work. They feed on articles containing wool, feathers, leather, fur or other items of animal origin. Much of the damage to cloth- ing attributed to clothes moths is actually caused by carpet beetle larvae. The black carpet beetle can also live on cereal products and other plant material Adult dermestids are small, oval and 3-6 mm Jong, with short, clubbed antennae—generally black or dull colored. Larvae are usually brown and covered with long hairs. Dermestid larvae may occur throughout the house; the adults are often found at windows. size range Another variety, the larder beetle, is a little over 6 mm in length. It is black, with a light brown band across the base of the wing covers, and feeds on a variety of stored foods, including meat and cheese The varied carpet beetle is mostly mottled with a grey, rust and black zigzag patter: larvae are yellowish brown and clothed with long brown hairs.
