The Cratt & Party Shoppe Located in the City Centre Square Mall, Castlegar, B.C. - 365-0077 Newspaper rtuneuncements nce the bride-and-groom have announced __ their engagement the next step is to tell everyone the great news. After both sides of the families and closest friendshave been notified it is customary to formally announce the engagement by allowing a newspaper announcement to be made. It is also very popular to have an announcement placed in a newspaper after the wedding has taken place. "Post wedding" announcements should contain details about the ceremony such as where and when it was held, and what type of ceremony it was. A photograph of the bride and groom would also be used in the announcement. Newspaper announcements are saved over the years and can be shown to future children and grandchildren. The Castlegar News will provide you with a standard format which can be used to assist you in preparing the engagment and wedding announcements. However, there are a few helpful hints we can offer you in the preparation of the announcements: ¢ It is a good idea to have a visual image or photograph to be published with the anouncement, as it allows for the reader to better relate to whom the announcement is about. A photo also adds a touch of elegance to the announcement, and in general, makes it look more appealing. ¢ The photograph chosen should be an 8"'x 10° black and white glossy with the brides name, umber on the back. The actual photo in the announcement needn’t be 8 x10", but it is better to submit a larger size _because it can be reproduced more clearly than a small photograph. e Submit the write up and photograph together, preferrably in an enveolpe to avoid misplacement or confusion of the information. * It is proper to state all names used in full form. Do not use nicknames. - If parents are deseased or divorced it is considered proper to make a note of this in the announcement. It is‘also acceptable to state the reason being if your name is not the same as the parents. At The Castlegar News our staff will generally know how to deal with these details tactfully. Before submitting your write up have it "proof read" by your parents and fiancee. By doing so errors will be avoided and anything missed shall be included. When submitting your write up it is very important to give the newspaper your phone ~ . number, this way you can be reached for information if need be.
