Needs More Members We were happy to note that the K.R.C, (Kinnaird-Robson- Castlegar Welfare and Recreational Society), the oganization that is.this district's community chest, made some mention of a campaign for new membership at their annual meeting Tuesday night. Presi- éent Harry Sommers proposed this action in his president's report, Weysi hope it is th It is evident that the society does not represent more than a fraction of the district's poulation. Its total active membership from Castlegar,-Robson and Kinnaird, is only 325. Under these circum- stances, it is plain that its grants to deserving charities and welfare work, cannot be as large as a district this size wquld warrant. Every resident in the district should be a contributing member of the K.R.C. for by ing to this he is con- tributing to all needy causes, district and national. The K.R.C, directors cannot expect i to become of their own accord, however, human nature being what it is. The only way ‘ new contributors can be secured is by personal approach to every resident by an authorized K:R.C. canvasser. The KRC has done excellent work in the past. But its field has expanded .tremendously. The district has grown considerably but its membership has not. If the K.R.C, Js to meet the expanded needs the future will d d, its too must become more of the it serves. : The Castle News And The K.R.C. A statement made by retiring secretary-treasurer John Dalziel at the K.R.C. annual meeting Tuesday night, demands correction. Mr. Dalziel, ly, cast i of poor minded- ness at the Castle News. He claimed this paper is unfair in claiming its yearly publication of the K.R.C. financial statement in full, as a contribution to the society. The Nelson and Trail papers, Mr. Dalziel slaimed, are glad to publish the same stetement as news, and with- ‘out charge. st ee We wish Mr. Dalziel would be sure of- his ‘tacts before making charges at a public meeting. We contacted both the Nelson and Trail papers yesterday morning by phone and they both assured, us that neither one of them have ever any in full free of charge, yet. It is with interest and anticipa- tion therefore, that we make our first skirmish against that veri- table wilderness of windmills, this is not publication of the statement im ee as Mr. Dalziel claimed Tuesday night. Any Mr. Dalziel} has against the publisher of this paper, thou be taken up with the publisher first. This has not been the case in this matter. No mem- ber of the K.R.C. has ever told us they were disatisfied with the arrangement, so that we were very much taken aback when we heard the unfair accusations cast against us Tuesday night. Since, _ Mr. Dalziel chose to voice his complaint in public, we can not do otherwise than give a public reply, Far from the. of. poor spirit on our part which Mr. Dalziel has made, we feel we are doing our utmost to be truly community minded. This therefore, is the place -to estab- lish the first bridge head ‘of eqiia- lity since the difference in facial regularity is so slight, an’ impar- tial judge might say “Away with all artifical aids to beauty.
