Page 14 ' CASTLE NEWS, Ties For First in PTA Contest Miss Gail Leitner Awarded First Prize For Second Time In Paper Essay Contest New literary laurels have been won by a 13 year old Castlegar girl, Miss Gail Leitner, Grade Eight student at the Stanley. Humph- vies Junior Senior High School. Miss Leitner has won a first prize in the annual essay contest sponsored by B.C.’s Pulp’ and Paper Mills, and has tied for first prize in the Christmas Story Contest sponsored by the B.C. Parent Teacher Federation, Among a total ‘of 30 in the essay contest, Miss Leitner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Leitner of Castlegar, was notified by mail this week that she has won first prize in the Junior Division-of Zone One (Southwest ern B.C.) of the Pulp and Paper contest, It is the second success- ive year that she has won the + prize for this area, For her award she has the choice of a three speed bicycle, a portable. typewriter, portable sewing machine, all-wave radio, matched luggage set or a cheque for $100. The prize she chooses is to be sent to Mr. J. A, Thomas, principal of the high school, for presentation to her, early in the New Year.
