In December donations were made to the Branch, George Derby Fund, Shaugh- nessy Hospital Veterans, Bur- sary Fund, and the Hamper Fund. Elections were held, and the positions filled as follows: e President — Muriel Heagy; ¢ Vice President — Hilda Salmon; ¢ Treasurer — Pearl Mott; ¢ Executive — Cathy Mc- Donald, Alice LeCouffe, and Joyce Turner. On Jan. 10, a joint Branch and Ladies Auxiliary instal- lation was held in the Legion hall. West Kootenay Zone Commander Eileen Anderson of Grand Forks duly installed the Auxiliary Officers. Fol- lowing the ceremonies a social was enjoyed by all visitors and members. On Jan. 18, the auxiliary catered to the library and will be catering to the Robbie Burns Night to be held on Jan. 30. This is the-Golden An- niversary of Branch No. 170 and Ladies Auxiliary — 50 years of service not only to our veterans, but also to the many organizations in our commu- nity. It is with pride that we, the Ladies Auxiliary, can look back on a job well-done, and can look forward to the same dedication in the years to come. Many events are being planned for this special year. To start off the cclshrakiane, the Ladies Auxiliary will be holding a Golden Anniversary Coffee Party and Bake Sale on Feb. 13 at the Legion Hall from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.. Separate colored flyers from ordinary newsprint. Stack into card- board boxes or put into brown paper bags. ¢ Office paper. Sort into the following categories: com- puter paper, white bond, mixed paper. Carbon paper is not accepted. Be sure to remove celo- phane windows from en- velopes. © Corrugated cardboard. Must be clean and flattened. No waxed or food stained cardboard. It is OK to leave staples in and tape on. Please note that cereal box type of cardboard cannot be accepted at this time. * Brown paper bags and paper egg cartons. Must be clean. ° Tin cans. Must be clean. Cut. the ends out and then step on them to flatten them. Put them into cardboard box- es so nobody gets cut with sharp edges. e Aluminum. The most commonly accepted alu- minum items are U.S. beer and pop cans. No deposits are payable.
