They called it a Low Net, Six Hole Elective and what it amounted to was that the scores of ‘each player's three worat holes were sub- tracted from,the gross scores CASTLEGAR NEWS SPO RTS Major Competitions ‘Included In Figure Skating Club Plans _. ‘The Castlegar Figure Skat- ing Club is entering another action-packed season with skaters ranging in ability from toddlers, who afe just learning to stroke across the ico, to senior high test skaters, Miss Brenna Waddell, who comes from Weyburn, Sask,, has resumed her dutles with the club this year as senior professional. Miss Waddell has achieved the highest standard that skating has to offer, She has passed the. Gold Figure, Gold Free Skate a and Gold: ‘Dance tests. She is joined this year by. Mias Deanna Pielak who comes from Brooks, Alta. Miss Pielak has her Fifth Figure, Silver Free Skate and Senior Silver Dance tests. In addition to her Local Figure duties with the club, Deanna is attending Selkirk College. The club has been fortun- ate to also acquire the part-time services of Miss Maureen Wal- lace, professional with the Trail Skating Club. The club will send skaters to at least two major competi tions this season. Test days have already been scheduled and a carnival is again planned to wind up the skating year. Many of the club's skaters attended skating schools throughout the province this past summer and enjoyed the opportunity to work , with skaters from other areas. For those who missed the registration days, registrations are being accepted at the arena during the first week of akat- ing. Skating Pro Spends 3-Weeks in Moscow Brenna Waddell, profes- sional with the Castlegar Fig- ure Skating Club, returned recently to take up her duties with the club after a three- week stay in Moscow.
