In the “clean and jerk" it is possible to lift heavier weights as the "clean" brings the weight to the shoulders, and then the "jerk" drives it up. To qualify for the Canada Win- ter Games, the lifters had to be in the top two in B.C, and had to have achieved that rating by tuming in a full year of consistent competitive lifting. * The pair competed at the West- ern Canada Games held in Win- nipeg in July of last year where Team af paid for, most of the expense of competitive weightlift- ing is borne by the two. “Seville has been lifting for approximately five years, and - Young for two-and-a-half.
