Alert Identification Inc., pro-
duces gold lapel pins, neck-
laces and watch attachments
that contain inside an in-
dividual's entire medical his-
tory.

The 10-carat-gold items,
which are waterproof and
fire resistant, hold several
stainless steel plates listing
medical information. Even a
photo of the wearer is in-
cluded.

The material is released by
the push of a button.

The device also has poten.
tial for non-medical purposes,
said Hunter, a former land
developer, race horse trainer
and realtor in Calgary.

It can be used by travellers
to store credit card, passpost,
or travellers’ cheque num-
bers. Lost children and pets
could also be identified.

Hunter is confident his
product will soon rival the
traditional Medic Alert brac-
elet.

Bryan Hughes, a Calgary
ambulance service spokes-
man, said the device sounds
worthwile because many
people don't like to wear
bracelets identifying them as
an epileptic or diabetic.

Hunter became interested
in the device after he was or-
dered to wear a Medic Alert
bracelet.
