An age where from the earliest influence we are told to feel good about ourselves. The commercial media bombards us with clothes, hair oils, facial creams, tooth- paste, cars, furniture, food and fitness. These should all contribute to making us feel good about ourselves. Once you dress up the out- side, work on the inside by turning to a myriad of self- help groups. There is nothing wrong in improving our self-image but taken to extreme, we develop blind spots about ourselves. The word of God warns about just such a problem. “For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment in accor- dance with the measure of faith God has given you”. Paul recognized in himself as well as in others the dan- ger of having too high an opinion of yourself. It is not that hard for us to put on an appearance of perfection and ignore the areas of our lives that need to be changed. Pulpit & Pew Calvary Baptist Church Pastor Bob MARSH Rather than telling each other “I’m OK, your OK” we need to ask the question; Who am I? What have I be- come? Am J being myself? If we are really developing a healthy self-image, we are not afraid of being ourselves and we are not afraid to take on honest look at ourselves. We should not allow our world to press us into a mold that only makes us a shell of what we want to become. We should want to know and to become ourselves to our fullest potential. May the Lord God point out to us our blind spots by His Holy Bible and may we become the image of Jesus Trigger-happy kids take video challenge If you are 18 years or younger, here’s a chance to awe your friends and frus- trate your parents.
