None of the advice, put to use in my many efforts to counter balance his terror, ever worked, and so I gave up and went hunting alone. Davy lived to a great old age, very happy to never n have to deal with guns, While living in Australia, we moved to a Property, which we named “High Taroo”, high in the hills overlooking the Latrobe Val ley. We discovered we were overrun with snkes, blackberry thickets, and wild rabbits. When someone remarked it was a dog's heav en, we set off to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA in Australia) to see if there was an anima adopt able in residence. “Heidi” adopted us. She had been a city dog, and the country posed certain challenges and situations for which she was unprepared. Never having seen a snake before, and having so much hair over eyes she was not likely to ever see one, I died a thousand deaths every time we walked in the tall grass. We made so much noise every snake in the area would move off long before we came near! My friend, who would dog sit for us, told me Heidi had once walked right over a deadly black snake but, fortunately, was not bitten Her Queensland Blue Heeler, as was her instinctive nature, quickly dispatched it Snakes are protected in Australia. Let us not think that these conditions exist only in foreign countries, where has killed all human sensitivity. Also Here, in our own communities there are children who are blamed for everything and elderly people who are forgotten:..every contact with other humans inflicts new pain In many marriages love has been choked by egoism, the tender feeling of intimacy made place for feelings of Only where there is emotion and feeling we may expect a gerieration which has not only sympathy for third world countries but shows also respect for people in our own streets. What is demanded from us is more than the simple expression, “be nice to each other”. On the other hand our dealings with others must not be led by feelings only because that would exclude understanding. If we say that a person allows himself to be led by his feelings it most often means that only his own feelings count for him, not those of others An emotional, sentimental person may shed tears at the sight of a clumsy little dog and may not even see the need Well-balanced feeling works as an aerial picking up signals from the origin or the background and gives direction to all human actions Take the case of a person who finds it difficult to express himself. Being impatient we like to interrupt him or to think that his words make no sense A considerate, thoughtful person however, will perceive at once whether the person notwithstanding his speech handicap has song to say or whether Every day opportunities present themselves where we can prove our sensitivity. They all are opportunities to dismantle a little of our own egoism. To have consideration for others and to sacrifice our own feelings is often difficult. In any case, non-committal friendliness does not lead us anywhere It will cost real efforts to deal with people...and probably by ourselves alone Anytime we open a newspaper we see that the net!of evil and brutality has a firm grip on almost everything.
