CONFIDENTIAL REPORT: The new TV season is only
weeks away. Any day now, promotional spots will be
pushing the guaranteed success of upcoming shows. But
a trip down memory lane proves there are no sure hits
on television—Frank Sinatra learned that lesson twice.
His ‘The Frank Sinatra Show' managed only a two-season
run in the early ‘50s on CBS. ABC picked it up for
another try in 1957, but Frank lasted only one season
on that network. NBC went with ‘The Debbie Reynolds
Show’ in 1969. It didn't make it... Robin Willlams is

“and we knew what the children were viewing. They

Man.’ The major finding was that three and four-
year-olds who were watching a great dea! of action
television—shows with the most violence—were the
ones most likely to get into fights at the nursery.”’ »
BACKSTAGE ON TV: Cindy Pickett, star of CBS's
Guiding Light,’ is out to shock her fans. Temporarily
teaving behind her role as the demure Jacqueline Marler,
Cindy is starring in French director Roger Vadim's
newest film, ‘Night Games.’ The movie, the New York
City actress explained, is about how a sexually repressed
woman—who was raped as a child—decides to explore
her sexual fantasies. Vadim, of course, is noted for
having discovered, groomed and fallen in love with
Brigitte Bardot, Jane Fonda and Catherine Deneuve. And
now Vadim, who has relocated in Malibu,-Calif., admits
to being personally involved with Cindy, 26. Said Cindy:
“| remember fooking at Vadim and | could see magic in
his face." ... Steve Garvey, the host and narrator of
MCA-TV's ‘The Road To Moscow— 1980,’ was elected to
the National League All-Stars for the sixth consecutive
year by the baseball fans of America. Garvey, a first
