The Aquanuats are gearing up for their swimathon || this ,, Saturday. Last weekend, some swim- mers made a trial run at the mile, and there were several good times turned in. Practices are running quite well, although some swimmers appear to be a bit overconfident about the Nelson swim meet. It's sometimes hard to keep training with maximum effort when one is used to winning all the time, but those swimmers will find out that they will be struggling to keep up to every- one else, Swimming is a sport in which one is rewarded accord- ing to how much effort is put out and, although a swimmer may. have an abundance of natural ability, he still must work hard in practice to get into the best shape possible, The Aquanauts have two new captains for this coming season, chosen on their atti- ‘tudes and their leadership abilities at the pool. Grant Stewart is the boys’ captain and Alexis Walsh leads the girls, These two take over from last . year's captain, Ray Yule, who did a great job. I'm sure Alexis and Grant will do just as Bood a a job this year. Swimmers and parents — don't forget about the barbeque after the swimathon. It will be on the lawn right beside the pool. Let's hope for good weather.
