However, Speed Watch is mak- ing a dent in those high numbers. Emma Chernoft On Tuesday, Oct. 24, 1995, Emma Chemoff of New Settle- ment passed away at Koote- nay Lake District Hospital at the age of 64 years. Funeral service was held at the Krestova Russian Halll Oct. 26-27 with burial at the Krestova Cemetery. Mrs. Chernoff was born Feb. 27, 1931 at Brilliant, B.C. She moved with her parents to Perry Siding where she grew up and attended schools. She married Paul Chernoff there Oct. 4, 1952. She moved to Vancouver in 1961 and lived there until 1973, when she moved to New Settlement where she has since resided. Mrs. Chemoff was well known for her cooking, gardening and sewing. She is survived by one son, Paul of Vernon; three daugh- ters, Ann Chutskoff of South Slocan, Lydia Barisenkoff of New Settlement and Tammy Kinakin of Crescent Valley; seven grandchildren; one brother, Pete Kalmakoff of Winlaw; three sisters, Polly Rebalkin and Mary Bojey of New Settlement and Tina Evdokimoff of South Slocan. She was predeceased by her husband Paul, March 1, 1995, one brother, Bill in 1962 and her parents. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Castlegar Funeral Chapel.
