ity of faculty that DTUC has
been able to attract, which in
turn has’ resulted in- the
quality ‘of the UVic level
courses being kept consis-
tently high.

“The* major problem has
been one of identity," Wil-
liams adds. “There is nothing
: like DTUC anywhere else in
the province. The faculty is
trying to consolidate their
own view of themselves, and
now identify themselves as
part of DTUC rather than its.
parent institutions,

‘The government must now
decide whether DTUC is' a
college within a university or
a university within a college
or something else again. ~

“I hope that one of the
things the recently appointed
evaluation committee on
DTUC will examine is the
legislation that created
DTUC to seo if it is really
sufficient.”
