The inspecting party was led by Major N.E. Pope, Warrant Officer Ken Ned, Stan Horton, vice-president of the Air Cadet League, Vivian Murphy, area representative of the Air Cadet League, Lieut. Mike Power, commanding officer of 581 Squadron and Michelle Feeney, president of the squadron's spon- soring body. The. squadron was in great form with outstanding uniforms and boots that almost out shone even the com- manding officer’s, a squadron: news release said. The Cadets demonstrated some of the things they learned this year and gave an excellent demonstration of the junior and senior drill teams and the first-aid team. There were also a few surprises as Capt. Trevor E. Smith was presented with the, second clasp to his CD medal for 32 years of service with the Armed Forces and Cadets. The most improved Auxiliary holds wind-up The South Slocan Hospital Auxiliary held its wind-up luncheon June14.at-the-Duck-Step-in-Winiew; with 17 members attending and special guests Muriel Wilson and Bella Moran of Castlegar. Wilson, the new representative for the West Kootenay area, congratulated the auxiliary on raising $2,000 at its garage sale in May. She also congratulated the group for taking a stand to save women’s cen- tres when the federal government cut funding. She also urged the group to send held at the Yale Hotel Sept. 20 in Grand Forks, where workshops will be-hetd-on--gift-shops, the duties of auxiliary presidents, and extended care. The B.C. Association of Hospital Auxiliaries, she said, is looking for a new design for its logo, the stellar jay and dogwood. The logo will be used for writing paper and T-shirts, and while there is no prize for the design, the artist's name will be used on the logo.
