At eight o'clo- ck the president Mr. A. Read called the necting to order and asked the chaplain Father Barnes to open the meeting with prayer. : . +The matter of new business centred on the correspondence received which included two letters read by the secre- tery, Wm. Oleski. A letter from the Village Clerk esking for the church's opinion of the choice of a site for a .Jpublic cemetery for Castlegar and dist- rict voxed much lively and interesting discussion. A motion was made, seconded and passed that a more suitable and. central site, than the present one be found for a public cemetery to serve Castlegar, Kinnaird and Robson. It was voted that’ the Village Commissioners be informed of this motion in an early reply to the clerk's letter. The Diocesan Director, Rt. Rev. A. K. MacIntyre V.G. had written inviting the Holy Name members of St. Rita's Parish to a zone Holy Name Rally in Trail on Sunday January 9th. The ready and eager response showed that there would be a good representati of men from.Castlegar and Kinnaird and a comm-— fittee was named to attend to-the- matter of transportation a contacting all absent: members during this week. The next item of business was the Religious Discussion, Paper; tne theme of this weeks paper was "The Church and Education." This paper read by Mr. A. Read who also acted as Discussion Lea- der was practifel and interesting, pringing to light, the position of the State, the’ responsibility of parents, the right of the Church, and the err- oneous systems set up for child educat- 4on in Nazi, Soviet and Fascist States. Coffee' and cookies were served be- fore the men left to go on night shift and with the recitation of the closing, prayer a successful Holy Name Meeting was adjourned.
