Many problems are be- ing experienced due to the cool wet weather this spring. The most important one in the Kootensy area is the perennis! enemy, Apple Scab. Primary infections have been seen in several orchards in the Creston “area. Other areas such as Balfour, Nelson and Castlegar have some severe infections. If; you do have infections, it is very important to apply sprays throughout the rest of this season whenever there is a scab infection period. Brown Rot blight was a problem on many types of stone fruits this spring. This is now causing severe fruit rotting problems in the south Okanagan where the cherries are now ripening. Anyone with cherries knows that there has been a very heavy drop this year. This was likely due to the poor weather and poor pol-. lination.. However, some of this fruit that should frop, is not dropping. This ripens ahead of the good fruit and Rot,.and that area does this problem. The Koote: Brown Rot problem.
