MONTREAL (cP) — It
may look like an 83-cent
weakling in United States
money, but our dollar has .
been performing like Super-
buck recently against Eur-
opean currencies.

The Canadian ‘dollar has
made strong gains since last
September against such trad-
itional Rock of Gibraltar cur-
rencies as the German mark ..
and the Swiss franc, appre-
ciating 15 per cent or more
against most of the major
European currencies.

: Last Monday, it traded at a
three-year high against many
of those continental curren-
cies, The Swiss franc, trading
as high as 72 Canadian cents
last fall — and thought to be
heading for $1 this year —
dipped below 59 cents, while
the German mark, over 67 a
year ago, fell below 64.
