The Senior Rockettes met last year's West Kootenay Champions from Rossland, in recent ladies’ field hockey ac- tion in Rossland, ending the encounter in a 1-1 tie. The Rockettes scored five minutes into the first half and carried most of the play. The team had several good scoring chances with the Rossland goalie making excellent saves. ‘The same held true in the second half, until the Rossland team broke away to tie the game. Although the Rockettes to West Kootenay Championship this Weekend rpowers Nelson in Final League Action provide competition for the Royalettes. An excellent second half was played by both teams, Both the Rockettes and the Royalettes are primed and ready for the West Kootenay Championships this weekend in Grand Forks, There should be an excellent match between the two teams. Rossland won the West Kootenay Championships last year in double overtime against the Rockettes. In other games last week, the Rock defeated Pen- they could not beat the Rossland goalie and the game resulted in a l-l tie. That was the second tie in league play, so the Selkirk Saintettes have now moved into first place. The final league game for . the Rockettes was against L. V. Rogers, when the Rockettes played their most controlled game of the season. It was a total team effort with everyone passing well, They allowed only two shots on goal, and the final score was 4-0 for the Rockettes. In junior action, the Rock- ettes lost 3-1 to the Rossland team. Rossland was up for the game.after their 1-0 loss to the Rockettes last week. Within 10 minutes the score was 3-0. The Rockettes organized - themselves and came back to ticton 3-0, Janice King has now found her stride. She played her best game of the year, both with rushes down the field and with an excellent goal, Against Grand Forks, Ter- esa Perepolkin led the team toa 6&0 victory, combining with Caroline Zaitsoff and Lori Veri- gin for some excellent scoring. - In the rematch against Penticton, the score was 0.0 after regulation time. Each team scored one goal in the 10-minute overtime, and in the penalty corner system, which is used to break ties, again each team scored one. The game was then declared a tie.
