The Execution of Raymond Graham was an ABC special drama: presentation that chronicled the last few hours of a death row convict. * At the conclusion of the movie my - brother-in-law turned to me and said some- thing to the effect that the movie was definitely against capital punishment. While I proceeded to give my views, as well as other opinions that revolve around this issue, my thoughts were far from taking sides, for or against. My mind was drawn back to the face of Raymond Gra- ham; to his thoughts and his emotions: as death drew closer and closer to him. Whether it was the’ pro- ducer’s intent to heighten the viewers’ awareness of the is- sue or not, he certainly awakened me to the univer- sal issue of death. I wonder how many of you out there are truly concerned about your life and the in- evitability of your death. I suppose it's never much of a show stopper when we're young and so full of life. Even as we settle into our quiet and comfortable middle ages we can elude,.thoughts of the grim reaper with other diversions. . Yet all too soon old age points the barrel in our faces and death looms closer, even at our door. Raymond Graham was por- trayed as a very frightened young man when all hope of a “reprieve was extinquished. There's no escaping this world without first passing through the door of death. All Raymond Graham's ac- tions in life funnelled down to that door. ; A book I consult quite of- ten says it is appointed for all men to die once. That's right ‘on, nobody can refute that. The book, however, goes on to say that j fol- John Charters ... Reflections & recollections On. Holidays ‘ Marilyn Diane Gorkoff, daughter of Mike and Ann Gorkoff of Robson, and Walter Ray Rilkoff, son of Walter and Stella Rilkoff‘of Crescent Valley, were married Sept. 21 at the home of the bride's parents. : The bride’s gown was made from organza fhiifon and chantilly lace and had a high neck with a lade inset and seed pearls. 3 The gown's sleeves were puffy to just above the elbow and were adorned with chantilly lace appliques. “The bodice of the gown was also lace appliqued and the three-quarter length overskirt had a scalloped edge with two additional layers of lace which made the gown full-length. Ce lows. Who among the living can say if this is true? If Raymond Graham could come back and tell us, we'd know for sure. But he can't. My book says you die “once.” Fifty per cent is good odds when it comes down to the question of life and death. Are you betting your life that He's wrong? The judgment that follows death can be found in: II Corinthians 59:9 10; Revela- tion 20:11-15.
