W. Shaw left for Vancouver Tuesday: morning to attend the funeral of Mr, Shaw’s mdther who died Monday night. Mr, and Mrs. Shaw will be away approximately three weeks. DRAMATIC CLUB ELECTS OFFICERS The Robson Dramatic Club be- gan another season of activity with election of new officers at their annual meeting in the Rob- son Community Memorial Church Hall, ‘Friday, September 26. The meeting began with Mrs. J. Thorndale presiding and Frank Humphries acting as secretary- treasurer in the absence of A. Lamb. Mr. Humphries read the last annual report which was fol- lowed by a financial report and reviews of the work of each com- mittee. Mrs. J. Thorndale, retir- ing president gave ‘the compre- hensive annual report. Results of the election of of- ficers for which A. Lamb was acting chairman, were: Jaclx, nay Society for Handicapped Children by Mrs. G. Magwood and a piano recital by Dr. W. L. Wright, former professor of music at Brandon College during May and a concert by the newly formed Castlegar Brass Quartet (R. Graham, L.: V. Campbell, G. Leitner and P. Gergely at the final meeting in June. Mr. Cail had special praise for Mrs, Hostetter, accompanist, R. Graham, musical consultant; and Mrs. G. Buhr explained how these meet- ings would be divided and as- signed the topics for discussion at the next meeting. They are: 1, What part can parents play to encourage children’s interest in schoolwork? 2. Which is more ef- fective, learning by doing, or learning by being told? 3. Are children taking life as seriously today as did the adults of today when they ‘were children?
