Oldtime Fiddlers Association will once again be holding their annual Fiddle Contest in Castlegar. The contest will take place at the Community Complex on April 11. The B.C, Oldtime Fiddlers Association is a non-profit or- ganization whose aim is to promote the art of Oldtime Fiddling and to preserve the music. Throughout the year the fiddlers play at many commu- nity events and volunteer their time at hospitals, nurs- ing homes, senior citizens events, and many other func- tions throughout this area. This year, in hopes of at- tracting more out-of-town con- testants, we have added some new categories to our contest. In particular, more prize money and trophies will be of- fered in each category to en- courage more fiddlers to par- ticipate. Our aim is to encourage the younger generation to partici- pate in fiddle music. We do have a few younger fiddlers in our area, and this gives them the opportunity to play in these contests we hold each year. We are looking for local groups and businesses who would be willing to support our efforts through contribu- tions. All donors names will ap- pear on our program, and a trophy may be presented in your name if you so wish. Any donations, in any amount would be greatly ap- preciated. Should you be willing to contribute, contact Perl Mott at 365-7349 or Dorothy Ash- ton at 365-2267 to arrange for one of them to pick it up.
