Many Atfend Funeral Of Annie Makaroff m Funeral’ services were held Monday, April 22, from the Rus- sian Hall in Castlegar for the late Mrs. Annie Makaroff, who passed away in the Kootenay Lake General Hospital at Nelson. Pallbearers were - all mem- bers of the immediate family, and the burial was in the Bril- liant cemetery. Mrs. Makaroff, who was one of Castlegar’s “old-timers”, was born in Russia and came to Canada 59 years ago. She had been a resident of Castlegar 42 years and was well-known. and respected in the district. Widowed since the death of her husband in 1925, Mrs. Mak- aroff was left to carry on-the task of providing for the family The following year one daugh- ter was lost by drowning in the Columbia River near Castlegar, and shortly afterwards Mrs. Ma- karoff’s brother passed away.
