The program jnvolves supply- ing adolescents with information to evaluate the information sup- plied to them, and to evaluate their own home situation to determine if they are victims of abuse. Students are not required to sign their names to the form, however, if a child does sign their name the volunteer is required by law to report the alleged abuse. “If it is proven that an adult had knowledge of abuse, and did not report it, then that person could be tried in court for not coming forth.” It is hoped by van der Leelie that the day will come when child abuse is on the decrease In the 60s we became aware of physical abuse, the 70s we became aware of sexual abuse, and the 80s we became aware of emotional abuse.
