Among the crew of the Hal- ifax was Flyer Officer Virgil Lee Riley of Castlegar, the el- dest at 33, married 10 years with two daughters, six-year- old Sherrel (Koreen) and my- self, Carolee (Fitz-Gerald), then aged two. Father had enlisted in 1942. The “Nan” plunged to the earth in flames and exploded between two farms near Idom. People read the small ads too.
