AMONG THE MINES Development Work on Several Adjacent Properties, IN) TUNNEL AND DRIFT General News Notes Concerning Progress of =Mining Properties in Which Rossland Peo- ple are Interested—Other Paragraphs oi Interest. ‘The Arthur ‘On the Arthur property on Sheep ‘creek work is continuing in the tunnel and it is thought that the main ledge has been reached, al- though no delivite news has yet been received by the company. The work is now within 300 feet of where the Evening mine is opera- ting. Enesmore Mr. Sinclair, who is in charge of the Avon Mining company, now managing the Enesmore, writes that the tunnel is now in 60 feet, and he hopes to report 100 feet by March 1. The tunnel is being driven to crosscut nine leads which the claim possesses, and Mr. Sin- clair stated that he expected to en- counter one of tne leads before the 100-foot mark is reached. Lardeau Miues Co. Ltd. H. O. McClymont, of the Lar- deau Mines, Ltd., has sent down some very good looking ore from that property and writes that five or six feet more will take them into the first lead which the company is driving for. Beferondum - , The contractors of the Referen- dum property are in town on busi- ‘ness, and report that in about five weeks more they will have their contrant finished. The shaft will then be down roo feet. ‘The Mystery A letier received from the super- intendent of the Mystery property, Burnt Basin, states that the work is now continuing in heavier miner- alized rock and they are confident that they. are in the close proxmity of the ledge. ‘The Norway Company F. R. Griswold, of the Norway Mountain Mining company, left yes- terday for the eompanv’s property and will resume sinking in the shaft. Mr. Griswold was very wel pleased with the result of the assays obtained from the lead, The ledgel averages over -four feet six inches wide and is a free milling quartz. ‘THE MAYOR'S BEPLY. THRE ORE SHIPMENTS, The Shipments for the Fast Week Show a Small Decrease. Although the ore shipments from Rossland are 695 tons less than the previous week they are still very heavy.
