To be liberated means to be free, In recent. years, we have watched many “liber- ation” movements arise, each seeking freedom for a certain group of people. The human quest for free- dom is a ligitimate one. It continues in every age. There are different kinds of free- dom in our world and there are many ways that our free- doms can be taken from us. Canada is a “free” country. But our:freedom is relative. There are many nations in the world where you would not be reading this particular. column in me local news- paper. Canada is a “free” country. Our freedoms are precious , even with our freedoms, there are many among us who are subject to slaveries of various kinds. People are ‘enslaved to wrong attitudes, to relationships gone sour, to drugs and alcohol. People are enslaved by any force beyond their control. True freedom is nevér bought at the expense of others. True freedom ‘recog- nizes that human beings are social creatures. who depend on each other, Many of our modern “liberation” ‘ move- ments offer only illusory freedom. Let me Bive you.an example.
