Magwood of Robson due:to open in two weeks.time, it was announced at the regular monthly meeting of the Kootenay Society for Handicapped Children in the K.P. Hall, Trail last week. A total of 22 children had reg- istered for the school to that date. A list of equipment needed for the school:was submitted by Mrs. Magwood. A nurse, Miss Lassen, and seven volunteers have been enlisted to assist’ in the~classes. Insurance and transportation is; in charge of a special commitee. The school, to be called ‘Maple School,” will serve handicapped children in Robson, Castlegar, Kinnaird, Rossland, Fruitvale and Trail. . The meeting accepted a dona- tion from Rossland Rotarians for the purchase of educational toys and heard a report from the fact- finding committee regarding the gift of land by Mr. Baccus at Rob- son. Further investigation as to an ample water supply on the land was necessary, it was de- cided. Eagles To Have Aerie In Castlegar Plans for tHe organization in Castlegar of a new Aerie of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, were announced this week by J. A. Weaver, an organizer. for the Order, repredenting the Grand Aerie of the Fraternal Order of - Mr. Weaver has begun:drawing up a-charter list for the new Aerie here and has established his headquarters at Ozeroff Jewel- lery. The- Eagles, the organizer ex- plained, are beneficial frater- nal arganization. Aerie homes are maintained in all the princi- pal cities of Canada and ‘the U.S. The Order is also active in so- cial welfare work, being primari- ly résponsible for the spread of the old age pension and work- men’s compensation movement in the U.S. besides, laying the groundwork for the national So- cial Security Act. Ferry Traffic Totals Continue To Zoom The Castlegar ferry continued to transport a record volume of traffic during the month of Aug- ust, compared to the volume for the same month last year.
