It’s 10,000 Canadian children in the Jackrabbit cross-country skiing program, making their way across a field all at once. The Slocan Valley’ Recreation Commission celebrates the 10th an- niversary Feb. 10 of the Jackrabbit skiing program. The party is a chance for the whole family to come out and join in the fun. The festivities start at 10 a.m. at Appledale Park. There will be free ski rentals, games, prizes and lots of fun, the commission, says. The day is open not just to those in the present Jackrabbit program, but to everyone who loves to cross- country ski. “This is the largest skiing program in North America,’’ says Mark Rit- chie, coordinator for the Slocan Valley Recreation Commission. ‘‘So. we're inviting all young Jackrabbits and their families to put on something red and white, and come out and help us celebrate.
