Last week this newspaper carried a letter-to-the-editor written by long-time. and highly qualified and respected Ross- land-Trail school trustee Frank Beinder. In his letter Mr. Beinder said he did not fear that the Beaver Valley proposal would prove successful. However, he was fearful “that the newly-formed committee will create sufficient doubt and indecis- ion to ensure the defeat of the money bylaw which will eventually be placed’ before the voters of all participating school districts. It is just this type of dissention which is delaying a regional college for thé Okanagan area. Over there the residents of Kelowna, Penticton and several other communities are still arguing over where the regional college should be located be- cause they’re not content to accept UBC president Dr. John B. Macdonald’s re- commendation. “Here we are more fortunate (or at least we were more fortunate) with the Participating school districts agreed on the desirability of the college being located in Threat Very Closely the Castlegar-Kinnaird area as Dr. Mac- donald suggested. It was on this basis that the plebiscite for approval-in-principle on the regional college was presented—and endorsed, ; We are not at this time suggesting that action should be taken by either me school trustees of School District No.*.9 of the Castlegar ; and District Chamber of ce’s . r tee pepe the possibility still exists that the abortive and ill-timed attempt of the VICTORIA REPORT Excerpts from MLA Talks .
