The pickets, members of the West Kootenay All-Trades Coor- dinating Committee over a Feb. 6 court decision in which 60 participants in a demonstration at MacMillan Bloedel’s Alberni Specialties mill last fall were sentenced to two weeks in jail for criminal contempt of court “Everybody else who is protest ing is getting charged civilly,” said Ron Labute of the All-Trades Committee. “Because we're trades and we've got union cards in our pocket, we're charged criminally.” Labute said the pickets also want the provincial government to review “manageme nt-dominat- ed unions” within the construc tion industry.
