6 CASTLEGAR NEWS, Thursday, December 10, 1959 Liitle Theatre To Host Festival The Kinnaird Little Theatre has been chosen to hdst next spring's West Kootenay Drama Festival. This decision was made at a recent meeting of the .West Kootenay division of the B.C. Drama Association — the first time Kinnaird has been chosen for such a meeting, A special committee was set up to discuss and arrange plans for the spring drama festival — which is expected to attract many competing teams from all over the West Kootenay to Kinnaird. The meeting, attended by 25 members of the association, was also called to elect officers for the coming year. With Cliff Carne of Nelson acting as chair man, the mecting chose Mrs. Au. drey Camp of Trail as president, Gwilym Hughes of Castlegar as vice-president and Mrs. Evelyn Burrows of Kinnaird as secre- tary-treasurer. The meeting adopted its first official constitution, Up until this time the West Kootenay Divis- ion had merely seen following the general practices of the pro- vinelal association. Under this constitution the Group to Again Sing Garols in Robson Carol singers will again make the rounds of the Rob. son townsite this year singing Christmas carols for Robson's senlor citizens and retired re- sidents. Last year a small group o carol singers sang for the sen. lor citizens in Robson and were so well received thht tho grou decided to do the same thing again this year, The carol singers will sing on Sun, Dec. 20 — weather permitting — between 7 and 3 pm. Time of Robson chure)] services will also determine the time that the singers will make thelr rounds, Aiter they have finished, the carol singers will enjoy a pot- luck supper at the home of Mr. and Mrs, J. Bainbridge. branch will in future be known as the West Kootenay Drama Association. For the sake of con. venience, however, it was agreed that Grand Forks should be con- tained in this area — rather than the South Okanagan — and in- vited to submit a play in the spring festival at Kinnaird. He said soda and acid “will kick back at you on an electrical fire.” Dry chemical is a highly po- lished bicarbonate of soda re- leased under pressure which cre- ates its own vapor and smothers the fire.
