On November 19, 1984
John Hanley opened the
Castlegar Import Center in
South Castlegar near Central
Foods, in a building prev-
iously occupied by OK Tire.
At that time, John's theory ,of
running a successful business
was to provide honest, qual:
ity workmanship at a fair
price to his customers, along
with friendly courteous ser-
vice.

you should be able to make a
living”, says Hanley.

In July 1984 Rose Koch
started in business by open.
ing Rose's Treasure Chest, a
gift and wicker shop on
Columbia Ave., in a building
which is presently occupied
by Mount Sentinel Realty.
Five months later, she moved
the business to a downtown
location above Bob's Pay 'n
Take It’, where jewellery and
some clothing was added to
her inventory.

Two years ago Rose moved
her boutique to its present
location which gave her much
more space for more gifts,
ladies fashions, crystal and
accessories.

has new
owners

Over the past month,
there have been a few
changes at the B&W
Trophies & Engraving
Shop. The first change is
it's not quite in the same
location. It's moved, but
only two doors down from
the former location so it's
address is now 2173
Columbia Avenue.

The second, and most
important, change is that
it has new owners, Karen
and Terry Hughes, long-
time residents of Castle-
gar. They took over the
business on March 1, and
along with it came a very
slight name change to
B&W Trophies & Engrav-
ing.
