well. First, about the movie:
There have been three film
versions of Sigmund Rom-
berg’s operetta “The Desert
Song”: The earliest, in 1929,
starred Boles and .Carlotta
King. Boles, an accomplished
singer, starred in a number of
musicals and other films, in-
cluding “The King of Jazz”
(1930), “Back Street” (1932),
“Only Yesterday” (1933) and
“Stella Dallas” (1937).

Most large music stores, es-
pecially those that stock clas-
sical music and show tunes,
should have the score for “The
Desert Song.” In New York
City, a famous store called Pa-
telson’s near Carnegie Hall
stocks the music you seek and
