BCAA warns public
of faulty car seats

The British Columbia Au-
tomobile Association, in asso-
ciation with Transport Cana-
da, is advising consumers
about two potential problems
affecting Fisher-Price car
seats, Model AC9102.

The first problem affects
435,300 seats manufactured
between Feb. 8, 1991 and Dec.
15, 1991.

Fisher-Price has deter-
mined that under certain cir-
cumstances the shoulder har-
ness straps, which are con-
nected to the retractor system
at the back of the seat by a
connector bar, can slip off the
connector bar leaving one or
both shoulder straps unat-
tached to the retractor system.

The second problem affects
17,500 Fisher-Price AC9102
car seats manufactured from
June 1, 1989 to Oct. 31, 1989.

Fisher-Price has deter-
mined that under certain cir-
cumstances a component in
the buckle assembly located
on the shield portion of the re-
straint can crack or break,
making it difficult to engage
the buckle with the tongue.

Consumers ar requested to
contact Fisher-Price at 1-800-
332-3457 to obtain a free re-
placement harness system
and shield, with full instruc-
tions.

Feb. 8, 1991 to Dec. 5, 1991 pe-
riod.

In isolated cases it has been
found that these connector
bars — overtime and repeated
use — may not hold the shoul-
der harness straps and allow
the straps to slide off the arm
of the connector bar.

As aresult, the harness sys-
tem would not restrain the
child. Fisher-Price has now re-
modified the connector bar so
this will no longer be a prob-
lem.

Fisher-Price will provide
consumers with affected seats
with free repair kits, consist-
ing of a plastic connector bar
cover and full instructions.

should contact Fisher-Price at
1-800-332-3457.
