Almost 13 years ago, after considerable debate and a
December 1973 poll, the two towns of Kinnaird and
Castlegar were amalgamated briefly as the City of
Castlegar Kinnaird under a joint council. If I recall
correctly, it was not an entirely unanimous agreement.

In any case, the final step in the history of the City of
Castlegar came in a directive from Executive Council in
Victoria and a final letters patent as follows:
